Spring Break

It's been a busy few months, the girls have been changing so fast. Phoebe is walking all over the place now, and her sweet little voice is constantly calling "mah-mee!" She has many other words that she uses. Her favorites are "oh yeah" "uh-oh" "cheese" and "puppy." Eva and Cora are finishing up the school year. Cora is right on the brink of reading. She's writing well and so creative. Eva has come so far with everything. I'm so proud of them. I'm so excited for Easter. It's my favorite holiday.   The power and glory and the meaning of the day gets me every year. HE IS RISEN!

Even more reason to celebrate is the amazing continuing good health of my grandmother. God has been so good. He is truly a God of miracles.

Happy Easter!

Seasons of Love

it was a hard Thanksgiving this year. My family received some very sad news the day before thanksgiving. We found out that my grandmother has leukemia and doesn't have long to live. All of us are just devastated. My family is very close and my gramma is the rock of our family. You can turn to her for anything. She's the grandma you always find in the kitchen baking pies, cookies or some yummy dessert. She's always knitting something beautiful for someone. She always has a smile in her heart and a hug in her arms. My grandmother has a faith in Jesus that overflows to everyone she meets. I've been very selfish these past few days wishing I could have her for just a couple more years so my girls could really know how wonderful their great-grandmother. However, I know that she'll be in a much better place soon.
It's going to be a difficult Christmas, but I'm putting my best face forward for the girls and let their joy and excitement help me get through the holidays.

Fall

Fall is here, with it comes apples, pumpkins, apple pie, pumpkin pie, (you reading this gramma?) heehehee. No seriously though, Fall is one of my favorite times of year. Things go back into routine, the weather cools down, the leaves change. It's just so beautiful.
To enter into fall we went apple picking last weekend in Lafayette. It was lots of fun. All of DH's family came so it was rather crazy. Then on Sunday we went to the Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown. It was their fall harvest festival and we all had a good time. If you've never had a chance to go down there, it's an old americana village set in 1845 and it's well worth the visit.
Fall is also special to me because my first child was born in October. We're looking forward to celebrating her day again very soon!
So while the season is short I find it a wonderful time of year and even though winter is right around the corner, I know that underneath the snow lies God's promises of spring.

school days

Eva started school on Sept 7, we brought her on the first day since it was a new school and she didn't get to really see the building before school started, I thought it would be a good idea for us to bring her so she'd know where her classroom was. She went right in without a problem. I was so happy! She is making friends and seems to be adjusting very well. She is taking after the family with her ability to make relationships with international students, which is so awesome. The girls elementary school is an ESL school which means children from all nationalities attend and receive services to help learn English. Having such a diverse school will be a great benefit for them in the long run.

Cora started Pre-K on the 13th. She got right on the bus with Eva and off she went and I think she's having a great time so far. I hear all about another little girl in her class who's she's taken a liking to and everything she does. She comes home early on Fridays which is nice because I have a lunch buddy once a week.

Phoebe is enjoying being an only child, and she is so much fun! Every day is something new and just last night she started army crawling across the floor.

this weekend will be lots of fun, we're going apple picking saturday and then to the farmer's museum sunday!

our long boring summer

At the end of June we moved to our new apartment, and thus began our new adventure in the land of no sidewalks and no socialization.  It's been really hard leaving everyone and hearing about this playdate here and there and knowing that we would be unable to attend because of no way of getting there.
I'm really looking forward to next week and getting back into routine again, Having one kid at home is going to be something of an anomaly for me. Eva will be in 1st grade and Cora will be in all day Pre-K!  The girls have done fairly well with as much as the summer has seemed to drag. We did the best with what we had.
Thursday Eva will find out who her teacher is and then Sunday is the Fair!! For us the Fair is the highlight of the summer.
